Many dream of owning their own home. And then suddenly they realize that it is not all cozy nights in front of the fireplace, BBQ in the backyard......BUT it is maintenance. And it is ALL the time. One of the quickest jobs you can do to protect your home from disasters is to make sure your gutters are clean. This is also the one job most people don't think about until there is a problem. Afterall, they are WAY up there and you don't see what is inside them.

The average home that is located in an open area should check their gutters and clean them if necessary at least twice a year, once in the spring after the maple whirlygigs are done flying around, and again in the fall when the leaves are done falling. If your house is in a wooded area then you may need to clean them at least another time in the middle of the summer.

Why is this so important? Your gutters direct water away from your house. Water is the worst enemy a house can have (other than maybe fire) and it often times creeps up on you and then whoa, the damage is done. Water can work its way up under your roof tiles, it can rot away your fascia boards, get behind your siding, and worst of all, drain down into your foundation and basement.

Proper gutter installation should take all your water away from your house so these problems don't occur. Check to see they are working properly by inspecting them, from the ground, when it rains. If water is pouring out of them, and not down your downspouts, you have a problem. If they are not securely attached to your roofline, you have a problem. If you don't see water coming out of your downspouts, you have a problem. And, if you see weeds or other plants growing in your gutters, well, you need to take action!

Cleaining gutters takes some talent and you have to be able to climb a ladder and have some balance. You may be wondering how much a cleaning will cost, and you may even be contemplating taking the risk of doing it yourself. If you don't have the right safety equipment, a sturdy ladder and goat-like balance, hire a professional. The average cost of a single story ranch house is about $200. A second story house is generally under $300. The cost goes up as the number of gutters goes up, or the height of the gutters increases, or if the ground underneath them is uneven or difficult to get to. The average cost of a broken leg, broken arm, or broken neck is, well.........priceless.

Please give us a call to estimate a cleaning for your home. We are professionals, fully insured, and experienced in cleaning gutters. Let us take care of your home, like it was our own, and keep your feet firmly and safely on the ground!
